Configure #deliver using Microsoft 365 mail flow rules. This lets your team route approved customer emails through Documentd while continuing to work in email.

This setup will not disrupt your current email service. It only routes emails that match the #deliver rule.

Open Exchange Admin
Open the Microsoft 365 Exchange Admin Center so you can configure mail flow.
- 1From the Microsoft 365 home page, select 'Admin' in the left-hand menu.
- 2Select 'Show all'.
- 3Under 'Admin centers', select 'Exchange'.

Create the outbound connector
Create a secure connector that routes approved emails to the Documentd secure delivery service.
- 1In the left-hand menu, select 'Mail flow', then 'Connectors'.
- 2Select '+ Add a connector'.
- 3Under 'Connection from', select 'Office 365'. Under 'Connection to', select 'Partner organization'. Then click 'Next'.
- 4Enter the name and ensure 'Turn it on' is selected.
- 5Select 'Only when I have a transport rule set up that redirects messages to this connector'.
- 6Select 'Route email through these smart hosts' and enter .
- 7Ensure 'Always use Transport Layer Security' and 'Issued by a trusted certificate authority (CA)' are selected.
- 8Validate the connector using .
- 9Click 'Create connector', then 'Done'.

Create the mail flow rule
Create a rule that identifies emails containing and routes them securely.
- 1In 'Mail flow', select 'Rules'.
- 2Select '+ Add a rule', then 'Create a new rule'.
- 3Enter the rule name .
- 4Under 'Apply this rule if', select 'The subject or body'.
- 5Select 'subject or body includes any of these words' and enter .
- 6Under 'Do the following', select 'Redirect the message to', then 'the following connector'.
- 7Select .
- 8Under 'Except if', configure the header to match the value .
- 9Ensure 'Enforce' is selected.
- 10Click 'Finish' and wait for the rule to save.

Enable the rule
Enable the new mail flow rule so your company can start using .
- 1In the left-hand menu, select 'Rules'.
- 2Find the rule called .
- 3Click 'Disabled' next to the rule.
- 4Enable the rule using the 'Enable or disable rule' switch.
- 5Close the panel and wait a few seconds for the rule to update.
Setup complete
You can now use #deliver
Emails containing #deliver will be routed through Documentd for secure customer delivery.
Exchange Online PowerShell
Use PowerShell instead of the Exchange Admin Center.
Remove #deliver from Microsoft 365
Remove the rule and connector if you no longer want to use #deliver.
